I did some searching, and I found some pretty good deals, or at least much
better deals than I found at the home improvement stores. I eventually
bought my Dewalt
battery at Toolking
because they have free shipping, but
there are other deals out there. So, if you're
looking for a Dewalt battery I have a few recommendations for you. Above are
price comparison tables for various models of Dewalt replacement batteries. Some of
the merchants even offer free shipping, but even if they don't, it's still
cheaper than at the hardware stores.
Technical Tip: The "XR" or "XRP" designation on certain batteries means "extended run". They store about 40% more power that the original batteries. That means your drill motor will run 40% longer. Also, all Dewalt 18v batteries fit in all 18v Dewalt tools. The same goes for 14.4v, 12v, etc. Some batteries are NiCd, others are Lithium Ion. Lithium Ion is better.
Also, check your battery charger. Is is a smart charger or a dumb charger. Dumb chargers will ruin your batteries if you leave them charging for too long. Smart battery chargers are much lighter than dumb chargers which have a heavy transformer inside. Smart chargers use solid state electronics and do not waste as much energy.
